About eighteen NERC members enjoyed Sunny Brook Park in Geauga County and the surrounding roads during our most recent fun run. Mother Nature cooperated nicely, starting us out with the typical winter chill and a mild breeze from the north, by the time we were done the sun was out in all its glory. About half of the members hit the trails for some roundabout fun on icy but runnable trails. The rest of the crew headed north for more miles along scenic and rolling country roads. Many thanks to Guy Gadomski for EVERYTHING! Guy manned the heated shelter, made sure there was water at the turnaround for the road runners and most importantly made omelettes to-order for all.
After the run, our members returned to a much loved (completely enclosed!) and heated Sunnybrook shelter for food and conversation. There was fresh local brown eggs, fresh baked breads, king cake and Donna’s "becoming famous" cinnamon scones! Guy accommodated all requests, ranging from lactose-free meat lovers to vegetarian omelettes. Thanks to all fellow members for helping fill the table with all sorts of add-in ingredients and pastries.
The conversation in the warm cabin included how our club members are preparing for Boston, Michelle's experience with the Wineglass Marathon in New York and welcoming Tim, one of our newest members. There was also a reference to omelette du fromage -which if you've never seen the funny little video -The Big Cheese
Fair warning you may find yourself repeating this phrase for the rest of the day...
Of course upcoming events were also discussed, including a healthy debate as to when the March Amish Fun Run is scheduled. It appears some conflicting dates have been posted. Luckily we have time to resolve that as it's still a month away. Hopefully the next two club events on your list are our monthly meeting (moved out one week) and the next fun run:
- Tuesday February 19th Movie Night- “The Spirit of the Marathon”.
- Sunday February 24th Hell's Hollow Pancake Fun Run. Start thinking about what you might like in your pancakes!
P.S. Special thanks also to Steve Novak for help with the setup and extra supplies!
